Various countries from the European, Asian, South American and North and Central American confederations are encouraging Platini to put his name forward as a potential successor to current FIFA president Joseph Blatter.
However, the 60-year-old Frenchman has not yet declared his intention to stand having passed on the chance to challenge Blatter at the previous FIFA election in May.
On Monday the FIFA executive committee meets to decide the date of a special congress to elect a new president as Blatter announced he would lay down his mandate just days after winning the last election amid a series of scandals surrounding his organisation.
