National Secretary of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Kayode Ajulo
The National Secretary of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Kayode Ajulo, has called for the urgent arrest and prosecution of the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega, over the malfunctioned card readers for the weekend’s presidential and National Assembly elections.
The LP chieftain, in a statement on Sunday, said the election was a
contest between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and card reader, and
that Jega should be blamed for deploying the card readers in the face of
strong opposition.
“The election was a contest between the PDP and card readers. If I have
my way, Jega ought to have been arrested and prosecuted. Because we
raised this issue right from the beginning that the card reader will
fail; and it failed.”
“This is the same Jega who about six months ago, said the Ekiti and
Osun States elections are important elections to use card readers, which
they are not sure of. How did he manage to accept to use card readers
for presidential election? Honestly, the card readers failed woefully.
Now, he said they should use manual voter register in the last minute.
Why didn’t he say that before?”
Reacting to the result released from the polling units at the
Presidential Villa, Abuja, which gave victory to the APC, Ajulo said
Nigerians should desist from announcing fake and unofficial results.
